Essentially, the open-top bus tour is a relatively expensive way to get to the nicest part of Lima that we’ve seen so far, Plaza de Armas, where one finds the Cathedral of Lima (pictured), the Government Palace of Peru, and the Municpal Palace of Peru. So, if you’re going to see these things, you might find that there are local bus routes which are much cheaper. That’s not to say that the guide on the Mirabus wasn’t informative, it’s just that I didn’t find it very exciting.

If you’ve watched the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, you may find interesting the even more bizarre marching of the guards in the Government Palace, and the definite one-up of a brass band playing at the gates. Sadly, I failed to get a picture of either of these things, so now you do have a reason to come to Plaza de Armas to see this for yourself!
